What’s New with Shining 3D Scanners
Einscan HX and HX2 (Reverse Engineering)
The HX is an excellent scanner for reverse engineering.
For the scanning and reverse engineering of many part sizes and shapes, the Einscan HX (and soon, the HX2) are an excellent choice. Stay-tuned for HX2 info. when it becomes available.
The HX and HX2 are hybrid scanners. While holding 40 micron total tolerance in laser mode, this scanner model can also scan using structured light and can capture color/texture.
Freescan Combo | Combo Plus (Reverse Engineering and Inspection)
Roughly the size of a cell phone, the Combo and Combo Plus are excellent for both metrology and reverse engineering. The Combo Plus offers roughly double the scanning speed over the Combo.
These are both metrology-grade scanners, offering 20 micron accuracy and up to 50 micron resolution. When used in HD mode, these scanners can create a single scan with multiple resolutions captured. So when scanning an object that has a specific location with high detail, the Combo or Combo Plus is ideal for capturing both sets of features in a single scanning session.
Additionally in IR mode, this scanner does an incredible job at scanning organic shapes and since it is using Infrared lighting, no visible light is emitted from the scanner, enabling the scanning of a human face while the eyes remain open.
Freescan UE Pro (Reverse Engineering and Inspection)
The Freescan UE Pro is perhaps Shining’s most versatile metrology-grade scanner. It is callable of scanning in HD mode, similar to the Combo and Combo Plus, but it also supports Photogrammetry for reducing volumetric error during the scanning process.
The UE Pro 2 was introduced at the IMTS show, for wireless use for both data and power. Once we have more information on the UE Pro 2, we will share it with our customers.
The Freescan Trak Pro 2 (Reverse Engineering and Inspection)
The Trak Pro 2 provides a wireless scenario for scanning very large objects, such as a car or a boat. It offers excellent accuracy of 23 microns and an optional probe, with 25 micron accuracy is also available.
This scanner also offers incredible capture speed and uses minimal targets.
AutoScan Inspec (Reverse Engineering and Inspection)
This scanner offers tiny part scanning at an amazing accuracy of 10 microns and can also capture very fine detail. It was initially created for scanning jewelry and capturing very fine detail. It may be used for both metrology as well as reverse engineering requirements.
Definitions:
Scanner Accuracy: The total tolerance (total accuracy) of our scanners. This is the maximum distance scan points may deviate from the surface. The lower the number, the more accurate the scanner.
Scanner Resolution: (AKA ‘Point Spacing’): The density of the point cloud. This controls the fine detail a scanner can capture. The lower the number, the higher the resolution. (Please note that our handheld scanners offer settable resolution, so I am providing the maximum). The Autoscan Inspec’s resolution is given by camera specs.
Scanner Speed: The speed (per second) of capturing scan points on a part.
For the Einscan HX, Combo and Combo Plus, accuracy, resolution and speed are only shown for laser mode. Specs for the HX2 and UE Pro 2 aren’t available yet.
